Marquise cuts face up as one of the largest per carat of any shape. Watch for the bowtie effect and protect the pointed tips with V-prongs. Classic length-to-width ratio: 1.85:1 to 2.10:1.
Milgrain edging (the fine beaded detail along metal edges), filigree (scrollwork metalwork), hand-engraving, and bezel or half-bezel settings are the hallmarks.
