Three Ways to Your Size

Choose the method that suits you

1

The Virtual Sizer

Open any RockHer ring page and launch the virtual ring sizer near the size selector. Your phone camera measures your finger against a calibrated reference in about a minute. No printouts, no paper strips, no guesswork.

2

Measure at Home

A ring that already fits the intended finger is the most reliable object in the house. Measure its inside diameter in millimeters and match it to the chart below. A thin strip of paper wrapped around the finger works as well.

3

A Sizer by Mail

The classic method, done properly. Request a complimentary ring sizer and we will send one to you before you order. The most accurate at home measurement there is.

On Every Ring Page

Your phone camera is a sizing tool

Every ring page on rockher.com carries our virtual ring sizer. It measures your finger through your phone camera, calibrated against a physical reference, and returns your size in about a minute. Remarkably accurate, and nothing to print.

1

Open any ring page

The virtual sizer is available on every ring we make. Look for Find My Size beside the size selection.

2

Follow the camera prompts

Hold your hand in frame with a standard card for calibration. The sizer reads the actual geometry of your finger.

3

Order in your measured size

Your size appears on screen in about a minute. Select it and your ring is made to that measurement.

Why It Is Accurate
It measures your finger, not a printout. Paper charts stretch, scale wrong in printing, and depend on a steady hand.
Camera calibration reads true dimensions. A known reference object in frame lets the sizer resolve your finger to a fraction of a millimeter.
It uses the same standard as our atelier. The size it returns is the size our jewelers build to. Nothing is lost in translation.

Between two sizes? Choose the larger. It is easier to take a ring in than to let it out.

Measure in the evening. Fingers are at their largest late in the day. A morning measurement can run a half size small.

Measure at room temperature. Cold contracts the finger, heat expands it. Neither gives you a true reading.

Measure more than once. Two or three readings on different days will converge on the truth.

Respect the knuckle. If the knuckle is noticeably larger than the base of the finger, size to pass the knuckle with gentle resistance.

Proposing in Secret

Finding her size without asking

Most engagement rings are ordered by someone who cannot ask the one question that matters. Here is how it is done.

1

Borrow a Ring

A ring she already wears on her left ring finger is the gold standard. Match its inside diameter to the chart above, or trace the inside circle on paper and measure the tracing. Rings worn on other fingers can differ by a full size or more.

2

Enlist an Ally

A sister, a mother, a close friend. Ring sizes come up naturally between people who try on each other’s jewelry, and the question never traces back to you.

3

When in Doubt, Go Larger

A ring that slides on for the proposal can be taken in the following week, complimentary. A ring that will not pass the knuckle cannot be part of the moment at all.

Our Standard
“A ring size is a starting point, not a test. If the fit is not perfect on arrival, the atelier makes it perfect. Complimentary, within 60 days.”

Resizing is performed by the same jewelers who made your ring, so the proportions, the finish, and the integrity of the setting are preserved exactly as designed. Certain designs, such as full eternity bands, are sized differently, and our jewelers will guide you on the right approach before you order.

Common Questions

Ring sizing, answered

How do I find my ring size at home?
Three reliable ways. Use the virtual ring sizer on any RockHer ring page, which measures your finger with your phone camera in about a minute. Measure the inside diameter of a ring that already fits the intended finger and match it to the chart on this page. Or request a complimentary physical ring sizer and we will mail one to you before you order.
What is the average ring size?
The most common ring size for women in the United States falls between 6 and 6.5. The most common for men falls between 9 and 10. Treat averages as a starting point only. Hand and finger proportions vary widely, and height or build predicts less than people assume.
What happens if I order the wrong size?
Nothing you need to worry about. Every RockHer ring includes complimentary resizing within 60 days of delivery. If the fit is not perfect when it arrives, our atelier adjusts it at no charge, performed by the same jewelers who made the ring.
How should an engagement ring fit?
Snug enough that it does not spin freely on the finger, loose enough to pass over the knuckle with slight resistance. You should feel gentle friction at the knuckle going on and coming off, and no pinching at the base of the finger.
How accurate is the virtual ring sizer?
Very. It measures your finger through your phone camera, calibrated against a physical reference object in frame, which lets it resolve your finger’s true dimensions to a fraction of a millimeter. It measures the finger itself rather than relying on printed charts, which stretch and scale unpredictably. You will find it on every ring page on rockher.com.
Should I size up or down if I am between sizes?
Size up. It is easier to take a ring in than to let it out, and a slightly larger ring is more comfortable than one that is too tight. If it proves loose, resizing within 60 days is complimentary.
Can every ring be resized?
Most rings can be adjusted within about a size in either direction. Some designs, such as full eternity bands with diamonds set around the entire band, are sized differently. Our jewelers will advise you on the right approach for your specific design before you order.
How do I find her ring size without her knowing?
Borrow a ring she already wears on her left ring finger and match it to the chart on this page, or trace its inside circle on paper. Enlist a friend or family member to learn her size casually. And remember that every RockHer ring includes complimentary resizing within 60 days, so the proposal never depends on a perfect guess.
