Custom Engagement Rings

Designed with you. Cast in Los Angeles.

Made for one diamond, one hand, one story.

A RockHer custom engagement ring
Not From a Catalog

One Ring. Made Once.

A RockHer custom ring is not selected from a catalog or modified from a template. It is designed in conversation with one of our gemologists, drafted in CAD, modeled in resin so you can hold it in your hand, and then cast from scratch in our Los Angeles atelier: for your diamond, your finger, no one else's.

We have been making engagement rings this way since 1967.

The Process

From Conversation to Casting

Six steps, each one visible to you, from the first sketch to the finished ring.

1

Consultation

Begin your commission and John Anderson, our Lead Gemologist, reaches out within 24 hours. On your first call or video meeting you discuss your diamond, your partner's hand, the silhouette you have in mind, and the practical questions that matter: comfort, durability, how the ring will wear over decades.

2

Design

You then meet your designer. Original sketches become three CAD drafts, refined with up to three revisions, and you receive photo realistic 3D renderings that show the finished ring from every angle.

3

Resin Model

Your design is 3D printed in resin and shipped to you. You wear it. You live with it. You confirm the proportions are right before any precious metal is cast.

4

Casting

We cast your ring using lost wax casting, an ancient technique unchanged in its essentials for centuries. The resin model becomes a mold; molten platinum or gold fills every detail of the design.

5

Setting & Finish

Each gemstone is hand set by a master jeweler in our Los Angeles atelier. The ring is hand polished, hand inspected, and engraved if you request it.

6

Delivery

Your ring is shipped fully insured by FedEx Priority in a RockHer presentation box.

Most commissions reach an approved design within two weeks when feedback moves at pace. From approved design to delivery: 8 to 12 business days.

Questions, Answered

What does the bespoke design commission cover?

The $1,000 commission covers a first conversation with John Anderson, our Lead Gemologist, within 24 hours of your order, a dedicated meeting with your designer, original sketches and three CAD design drafts with up to three revisions, photo realistic 3D renderings, and a hand finished resin prototype shipped to you. It is a service fee: it compensates our gemologists and CAD designers for the hours they invest in your commission, whether or not you proceed to production. It is fully refundable until design work begins and non-refundable after that. Once your design is approved, casting, setting, and finishing are quoted separately at a single fair price.

How many revisions do I get?

Up to three design revisions are included in your commission. Your designer prepares three CAD drafts, you choose a direction, and we refine it up to three times before your resin model is made. In practice, most designs are approved well within three.

Is the design fee refundable?

The fee is fully refundable until design work begins. Once our gemologists and designers have started work on your commission, it is non-refundable: it compensates the hours invested in your design, whether or not you proceed to production.

Do I need the design commission if I already have a design?

No. If you have a photo or a design you have seen anywhere, send it to John Anderson at john@rockher.com or through the form on this page. There is no design fee for inspiration based rings; John will review it with you and your ring will be quoted at a single fair price, made to order in Los Angeles.

How long does a custom engagement ring take?

Most commissions reach an approved design within two weeks when feedback moves at pace. From approved design to delivery, production takes 8 to 12 business days in our Los Angeles atelier.

Will I see the ring before it is cast?

Yes, twice. First in photo realistic 3D renderings from every angle, then as a wearable resin model shipped to your door, so you can confirm the proportions on your hand before we touch precious metal.

Can I speak with a gemologist before committing?

Yes. John Anderson, our Lead Gemologist, and his team are available at 1-800-779-1726, or you can request a consultation through the form on this page. The conversation is complimentary and there is no obligation.

Can I insure my custom ring?

Yes, and it is simple. You purchase your own coverage directly from Jewelers Mutual Insurance Group, insuring jewelry since 1913. Because we work with Jewelers Mutual directly, your ring and its documented value are recognized without appraisal hurdles, even though it is one of a kind.

What happens after my ring is delivered?

Every RockHer ring includes 60 day complimentary resizing and a lifetime warranty, and insuring your ring through Jewelers Mutual is straightforward.
