Design Your Own Engagement Ring

Los Angeles Atelier · Since 1967

Design your own engagement ring, around the diamond, not before it.

Choose a GIA or IGI certified diamond, choose the setting, and we model the ring around that exact diamond and make it to order in Los Angeles. One fair price, no design fee.

To design your own engagement ring at RockHer, you choose a certified diamond and a setting, and our designers model the ring around that diamond's measurements. It is made to order in our Los Angeles atelier in 8 to 12 business days, at one fair price, with no charge for the design.

How It Works

Three decisions. We do the rest.

  1. 1

    Choose the diamond

Natural diamonds graded by GIA, lab diamonds graded by IGI, searchable by shape, carat, color and clarity. Any natural diamond can be run through a ROSI™ Score Report, our gemological intelligence, so you see its cut performance and fair market position before you decide. The diamond comes first because its shape and measurements decide which settings hold it correctly.

  2. 2

    Choose the setting

Solitaire, hidden halo, halo, three stone, pavé, bezel, cathedral and vintage designs in platinum, 18K and 14K gold. Once your diamond is chosen, the configurator shows only the settings modeled for its shape. If you fell for a setting first, that works too: choose it and the diamond search narrows to shapes it accepts.

  3. 3

We model it around your diamond

Our designers build the CAD model to the measurements on your certificate, so the seat, prongs and gallery fit this diamond and not an average one. Our gemologist verifies the diamond against its certificate before it is set, the finished ring is inspected under the microscope, and it ships insured with the grading report.

How Far Do You Want to Go

Three ways to design, one atelier.

Most rings are designed the first way. The other two are there for the ring that does not exist yet.

About Bespoke Commissions
What It Costs

The setting plus the diamond. Nothing added.

A setting is $1,310 to $9,480, and most are between $2,100 and $5,400. The diamond carries its own single price from our live inventory. The finished ring is the sum of the two, and designing it yourself adds nothing to it. There are no codes, no countdowns and no second number crossed out next to the first.

If you would rather talk it through than click through, call John Anderson at 1-800-779-1726 or request a consultation. No charge, no obligation.

Choose the diamond first and let it decide the setting. A ring designed around a specific diamond looks right from every angle. A diamond dropped into a setting designed for an average one never quite does.

Questions

Before you design.

Does designing your own engagement ring cost less?

No, and it does not cost more either. The setting and the diamond each carry one fair price and the ring is the sum of the two. What designing it yourself gives you is control over where the money goes: more into the diamond and a simpler setting, or a smaller diamond in a more detailed one. You see every number before you commit.

How long does a ring I design myself take?

8 to 12 business days from the day your diamond is confirmed. That covers the CAD model built to your certificate, verification of the diamond, casting, setting, finishing and inspection in Los Angeles. A bespoke commission adds the design stage, usually about two weeks when feedback moves at pace.

Should I choose the diamond or the setting first?

The diamond. Its shape and measurements decide which settings hold it correctly, and the configurator filters the settings once a diamond is chosen. Starting from a setting works as well; the diamond search then shows only shapes that setting accepts.

What if the ring I want is not in the catalog?

Send John Anderson a photo or a sketch at john@rockher.com. If it can be made, he quotes it at one fair price with no design fee. For a ring with no reference at all, a bespoke commission takes it from sketches through CAD and a resin model before casting.

Natural or lab diamond?

Both are real diamonds. Natural diamonds are graded by GIA, lab diamonds by IGI. Natural diamonds are rarer and hold their place in the market differently; lab diamonds give you more carat for the same spend. The setting, the production and the warranty are identical either way.

What if I get the ring size wrong?

Resizing is complimentary for 60 days after delivery. Before you order, use the Ring Size Guide or the virtual ring sizer on any setting page. Most surprise proposals land within half a size, which is an easy adjustment.

Start with the diamond.

Every design begins the same way. Choose the diamond, and the rest of the ring follows it.
