One diamond on a clean band: the definitive engagement ring, unchanged because it never needed changing. With nothing else on the ring, every eye lands on the diamond, which means the diamond must deserve it. Cut quality is the entire performance in a solitaire, and choosing one is the strongest argument for choosing the diamond carefully.
The classic family keeps the solitaire's discipline and adds a measured signature: a cathedral rise, a knife edge band, a whisper of detail at the gallery. These are the designs that photograph beautifully in forty years of anniversaries, elegant with any center diamond from a round brilliant to a romantic heart shape.
A border of smaller diamonds frames the center diamond, enlarging its presence and multiplying its light. A halo makes a modest center read larger and a significant center read majestic, and it adds a distinctly glamorous character to the hand.
