The asscher cut is a square step cut with cropped corners, a high crown, and a small table. Its facets run in concentric squares that draw the eye down into the diamond like a hall of mirrors, and its outline is pure Art Deco. Where a round brilliant scatters light into hundreds of small sparks, an asscher returns broad, unhurried flashes and a mirrored depth that no brilliant cut can produce. On the ear, the square outline reads clean and architectural, and a matched pair sits with a symmetry that is hard to achieve in any other shape.
Why every asscher cut here is D VVS
Step cuts hide nothing. A round brilliant camouflages small inclusions and faint color in its play of light. An asscher does the opposite. Its open, mirrored planes act like clear glass, so any inclusion or tint sits in plain view, and the deep pavilion doubles what the eye sees. That is why we do not offer this shape in lower grades. Every asscher cut pair is D color and VVS clarity, so the diamond stays colorless and eye clean from every angle, including straight down through the table, where an asscher shows the most.
Matched as a pair, not sold as two
Two asscher cuts can share identical carat weight and identical grading and still look wrong together. Corner size, table proportion, and the depth of the step pattern are what the eye actually reads on the ear, and a difference of a few hundredths of a millimeter shows immediately. Every pair is selected together and matched for face-up measurements, corner crop, table proportion, and outline, so both sides mirror each other when worn. Both IGI certificates ship with the earrings.
Custom four-prong baskets
An asscher cut cannot sit in a round head. Its cropped corners need to be cradled and its straight sides supported, so each basket is built specifically for the shape, with the prongs seated on the corners to protect them without cutting into the outline. The basket sits low and close to the earlobe so the diamond stays forward and the earring does not tilt.

Which back should I choose?
Push backs are the lightest and the easiest to put on. Screw backs thread onto the post and will not work loose during the day, which is what most clients choose above 2ct total weight. La Pousette backs use a spring lock released by pressing two tabs, and are the most secure option available for larger pairs.
Which metal should I choose?
All three metals are solid throughout, never plated over a base metal. 18K white gold and platinum both read neutral and let a colorless asscher cut stay icy. 18K yellow gold gives a warmer frame around the diamond. Because every diamond here is D color, yellow gold will not pull warmth into the diamond itself, since color transfer is only a concern in lower color grades.
How does the asscher cut compare with an emerald cut or a round brilliant?
The emerald cut is the rectangular member of the same step cut family. The asscher is its square counterpart, with a higher crown, a smaller table, and a more concentrated light pattern. Against a round brilliant of equal carat weight, an asscher faces up slightly smaller, because more of its weight sits below the girdle, and it returns fewer, broader, brighter flashes in place of rapid sparkle. Neither is better. They are different effects.
Do the earrings come certified?
Yes. Each diamond is graded by IGI and both certificates ship with the earrings, listing carat weight, color, clarity, measurements, and lab-grown origin.
