Ethical jewelry is jewelry whose claims can be verified. That means gemstones with documented origin, metals with a documented supply chain, fair treatment of the people who mine, cut, and craft each piece, and a jeweler willing to show the paperwork rather than ask for your trust.
At RockHer, every diamond we sell carries an independent grading report from the Gemological Institute of America or the International Gemological Institute, and our fine jewelry and engagement rings are made to order in our Los Angeles atelier from materials we can trace and document.
The conversation around responsibility in jewelry grew louder in the late 20th century as the public learned about the human and environmental costs of poorly regulated mining. The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme, established in 2003, was created to halt the trade in diamonds that fund conflict, and the industry has continued to raise its standards since.
Two changes define the current era. First, laboratory grown diamonds became widely available, giving buyers a second legitimate path to a diamond. Second, traceability improved dramatically: a diamond can now be followed from its origin through cutting, polishing, and grading, so a buyer can know the story of their exact stone rather than an industry average.
A natural diamond earns confidence when its path can be documented. Our standard is specific: every RockHer diamond comes directly from a cutter who acquired it directly from a mining company and can trace it through the polishing process. We support the Kimberley Process but go beyond it by requiring an audited and transparent supply chain, and we never buy from third-party traders, even those holding a Kimberley warrant.
Independent certification completes the picture. Every diamond we sell is graded by GIA or IGI, so its quality is established by a laboratory with no stake in the sale. You can read more about our standards on our diamond standards page.
Laboratory grown diamonds are real diamonds: the same crystal, grown in a controlled environment rather than in the earth. Ours are created using the Chemical Vapor Deposition process, are Type IIa crystals of remarkable purity, and are cut, polished, and graded to the same standards as natural stones, with independent GIA or IGI reports.
Natural or lab grown is a personal decision, not a moral one. We sell both, we grade both to the same standard, and we will help you choose with clear information rather than judgment.

Every RockHer ring is made to order, from start to finish, in our Los Angeles atelier: we cast, set, polish, and inspect under California workplace and environmental standards, some of the most demanding in the world. Making each piece to order also means we produce what is purchased rather than speculating with inventory.
Our gold and platinum come from refiners in the United States with documented supply chains, much of it recycled, and the dust and shavings from our own workshop are collected and refined again.
