Book a ConsultationCushion diamonds are the go-to shape for vintage and contemporary brides alike, featuring a pillow-shaped outline with rounded corners, soft, romantic, and timeless. Cushions come in two main cut styles: 'antique' (chunky facets, more fire, romantic look) and 'brilliant' (smaller facets, more sparkle, modern look). The choice is aesthetic, neither is better than the other.
A solitaire puts 100% of the visual emphasis on your center diamond, no competing sparkle from side stones or halo. It's the most classic, timeless engagement ring style and the easiest to pair with a wedding band.
Plain metal bands for pure minimalism, pavé bands for added sparkle, or hidden halo bands for sparkle on the side profile. All work beautifully with a cushion solitaire.
The most popular sizes are 1.5 carat, 2 carat, and 2.5 carat. Cushions face up slightly smaller than ovals but larger than rounds. Popular ratios: 1:1 (perfect square cushion) and 1.15 to 1.25:1 (elongated cushion).
Both. RockHer offers GIA-graded natural cushion diamonds and IGI-graded lab-grown cushion diamonds. Lab-grown stones cost 60 to 80% less than natural at the same specs and are physically identical. Natural diamonds retain stronger long-term value.
