Radiant diamonds are increasingly popular as a modern alternative to emerald cuts, featuring rectangular outline with cropped corners and brilliant-style facets, the fire of a round with the elongation of an emerald. Radiant cuts hide color and inclusions well thanks to their brilliant facet pattern, they perform like rounds optically. Popular length-to-width ratios: 1.00:1 (square radiant) and 1.20 to 1.30:1 (rectangular radiant).
Radiants work equally well in modern halo settings or in bold three-stone configurations with trapezoid or half-moon side stones.
The most popular sizes are 1.5 carat, 2 carat, and 2.5 carat. Radiants face up slightly smaller than emerald cuts of the same weight but show significantly more sparkle.
