Knowing a Rose Cut Stone

Rose cut diamonds are shaped like flowers, mainly in the way the petals spiral from a bud. There are two forms worth knowing about: single rose cut, and the one with additional facet layers. The former can be encircled with smaller diamonds. Double rose cut stones are set in the center, either deep or high. They are also known as Dutch rose cuts, resembling the famous briolette cut. They come with horizontal facets that are usually structured.

The rose cut gives the diamond a flat base, and a faceted dome in place of the pavilion. The exact shape can comprise anywhere up to 24 facets, which means the rock can be customized extensively for a subtle look.
